When VIVO set out to showcase the Y400’s waterproof capability, the creative brief called for confident, cinematic movement underwater—close third-person tracking, smooth lateral glides, and precise framing around a custom set piece. The schedule was tight, the action was energetic, and the crew wanted directors and clients to supervise comfortably from the surface.

Stability in Motion: Locked Underwater Movement

QYSEA joined the production as a behind-the-scenes technical partner, supplying our cinema-grade FIFISH ZEN-V underwater robot and topside monitoring ecosystem. Rather than replacing the principal camera plan, ZEN-V worked as a nimble underwater dolly/gimbal that could be deployed and repositioned quickly between setups. Its six-vector thruster layout and intelligent posture compensation kept the image locked even as bubbles, currents, and quick talent moves filled the frame. For this shoot, ZEN-V carried an ARRI ALEXA 35 as the principal underwater camera package.

Efficiency in Production - Faster Setup, Fewer Dives

On set, the workflow became refreshingly simple. With the screen remote controller and external monitors, the director and DP reviewed framing, gave notes, and approved takes without diving, while safety divers focused on talent and set choreography. ZEN-V executed repeatable paths for the “third-person” follow shots, floated through bubble fields for dramatic reveals, and held steady around the platform when timing mattered. The result was sharp focus, clean composition, and motion that felt intentional—exactly what the story needed to communicate the phone’s promise underwater.

Creative Latitude & On‑Set Control

The impact was felt in both creativity and logistics. Complex moves were completed in controllable time, underwater entries were reduced, and retakes were faster thanks to repeatable trajectories. Most importantly, the team could spend its energy on performance and storytelling rather than fighting the environment. The finished commercial delivers a crisp, confident portrayal of Y400 underwater—our proud role was to help make those moments possible.
